Freshman Year
I am a freshman at AHS being the founding class of AHS I and my fellow classmates are the only students attending AHS at the time. I've created this digital portfolio this year to one keep myself organized with all the projects and work I've completed but also to give my views, you, a chance to look through my freshman projects and then at my senior projects and compare and contrast them to actually physically see how much progress I've made and how my work has changed and hopefully being refined at AHS. Here at AHS we value the Habits Of Heart and Mind P.A.P.E.R which is an acronam for Perserverance, Advocacy, Perspective, Evidence, and Refinement. Each year I will post which Habit I've grown most accustomed with throughout the year. This year on November 16th, 2009 my family was in a car accident, my step mom Cassandra Yazzie was killed instantly, leaving my little brother Noah paralyzed waist down and in a wheel chair. My little sister Amada has a broken leg, arm and some stitches on her lip and forehead, and my other little brother Dante was in a coma for 2 weeks he now has some brain damage, i was pulled out of AHS for about 2 months because i had to go to Denver to be there with my family at the children's hospital. Because of all that i've gone through and because I am still able to come back to school and pick up after where I left off including taking on some extra work, i feel that the habit of heart and mind that i've been able to connect with the most is perseverance, i've been able to overcome the many life changing experiences that I have to face and move forward with my life and with my family which is now missing a significant member but we are holding on to one another and helping each other move past all this chaos and somewhere in the midst of pain and angrer we feel, we still love each other very much and we are doing what we can to move on together. Thanks for the support everyone, I honestly couldnt have done this with out the help and support from my friends who are so incredible, my teachers who are even more incredible and so understanding, and from my community, I feel very blessed to be apart of such a great loving and caring community such as Durango Colorado. Thank you all so much. <3
