My poem is a forward and reverse poem which means you read it first going down and then you read it again but going up, when you read my poem you get two messages one going down the other going up. I choose this format because I was inspired by another similar poem called “A Lost Generation,” By Johnathan Reed.
When you are reading my poem going down I hope you get a sense of truth of what society portrays as the truth that is, society wants you to feel like you are nothing and that you must obey the rules it creates, society doesn’t do this in the basic way that I portray on my poem though, no society is much more complex and sneaky, but the message is still the same society will try to push you to do things and it will lie to you and try to manipulate you into thinking that what you are doing is right. This is where war comes in, one of the main things that society does is glorifies war. How does society do this you ask? Well the answer is simple v society has its helper the media. On the media is where society’s message comes across with its glamour and glitter we are tricked into believing that what the media says is right and that we need to be cool and awesome and to do that we need to do whatever the media tells us to do. On my poem I refer to the media as Igor, for those of you who don’t know Igor was Dr. Franklin Stein controlled Igor like society controls the media. When you are reading my poem down I you to get a depressed I want you to see that there is no hope and what you is society’s murderous puppet you are being controlled you watch the media and you see the army telling you to join and to server your country and to serve it well and you do. But what the media doesn’t tell you is how you are going to do this, the real message is you are going to go into a country and slaughter millions of people you are going to cause permanent damage to families you are going to kill a man a son and a father and you are going be the reason why a little girl or little boy is sitting on the steps wondering why their father or mother hasn’t come home. I want you to feel like you are controlled and whatever you do this will not change. When you read the poem back up however, you should have a new voice talking to you and telling you a different message the truth, a voice that is never really heard but is still there none the less. The truth tells you that you are something in this world and that you are important, you tend not to listen to the truth but you should instead you let society rule your mind and tell you that you are not good enough but truth is you are, you are good enough to make it in this world. The truth says it is a lie to say never fight back and it is, you should fight back not literally of course but mentally you should stand up for yourself and you should refuse to believe society when it tries to tell you something that you know is not true. Society says there is no hope and there will be no change, but the truth is that there is hope and there can be a change. There is always a time for change, and the time is now.

Forward and Reverse Poem, Society's murderous puppet
SOCIETY'S MURDEROUS PUPPET
You are not
Important! Because
I am
The Truth!
My identity,
Society! And like a hidden treasure in a chest
This is the tale of
How I’ll manipulate you!
Listen to me and
Don’t
Disobey.
I’ll tell you to kill,
Like the heartless puppet master I am,
Believe me it is right
Because peace is what you want!
Trust me
You are my Igor just like the media
Never believe
You are something,
Give up this can’t change and
Never fight back,
It’s a lie to say
There is hope!
YOU KNOW THIS IS TRUE!
But what if you can change this? What if you reverse it?
There is hope!
It’s a lie to say
Never fight back,
You are something,
Never believe
You are my Igor just like the media
Trust me
Because peace is what you want!
Believe me it is right
Like the heartless puppet master I am,
I’ll tell you to kill,
Disobey.
Don’t
Listen to me and
How I’ll manipulate you!
This is the tale of
Society! And like a hidden treasure in a chest
My identity,
The Truth!
I am
Important! Because
You Are Not
SOCIETY'S MURDEROUS PUPPET!
